Mets walk off Cardinals in eleventh to avoid series sweep

Jose Quintana and Lance Lynn were effective and efficient early, matching zeroes through the first four innings on reasonable pitch counts. Quintana blinked first, surrendering a lead off double to Masyn Wynn in the top of the fifth, who would then come around to score on a ground out and a safety squeeze.

The Mets missed a golden opportunity to tie the game in the fifth—a theme on the day—as with one out Harrison Bader singled and Brett Baty finally put one out of the reach of Brandon Donovan, who flashed leather in left field all day.
